There is a unique perspective that comes with being a family photographer for several years. You begin to see clearly that these sessions aren't just for the "now"—they are for the "years from now." This week, I found myself revisiting a favorite Westerville lifestyle session from the archives, and it struck me how the weight of these images has only grown since the day they were taken.
When I first stepped into Audra's home, we focused on an unhurried, baby-led morning. We leaned into a soft sage green palette and the natural, airy light of their master bedroom. Looking at these portraits today, I am reminded why I prioritize a timeless aesthetic. Trends may shift, but the quiet connection between a first-time mother and her baby never goes out of style.
Even Maya, their Goldendoodle, remains a standout part of this story. Seeing her "protector" energy captured in these frames reminds me that our pets are the silent witnesses to our biggest life transitions. While the baby in these photos is much bigger now, this "return ticket" to their very first days remains just as vivid.
While I offer digital collections, my ultimate "end game" for my clients is to see their memories live outside of a screen. We are creating these portraits for the child your baby will become.
Audra chose a beautifully framed piece of custom wall art from this session to surprise Matt and to preserve this moment. Now, as Everly grows, she won't have to go searching through a phone to find these memories. She will see the way she was held, the adoration her parents shared, and the light of her first home every time she walks through the room.
Whether you are in New Albany, Westerville, Dublin, Powell, or Upper Arlington, I would love to help you preserve these fleeting moments with intention and care. My sessions are designed for the family who values a peaceful experience and a timeless result.
