There are places that speak to your soul the moment you step foot on them. Places where the light hits just right, where every corner seems designed for capturing life's most precious moments. For me, Taylor Farm Park in New Albany is one of those rare gems—a location that never fails to inspire both my creative vision and the families I photograph throughout Columbus, Ohio.
As a Columbus family and senior photographer, I still remember my first visit to Taylor Farm Park at New Albany Farms. As I walked through the grounds I had that feeling I had discovered a location that was going to become part of my storytelling arsenal. The way the wooden structures framed the landscape, how the pathways seemed to lead the eye naturally through each scene, the abundance of textures and colors that change with every season—it was like finding a secret that I couldn't wait to share with my Columbus area families.
What initially drew me to Taylor Farm Park was its incredible diversity of backdrops within one location. In summer, we're surrounded by fields of wildflowers—purple, yellow, and white blooms that create natural confetti for your family photos. As we move into fall (my personal favorite time here), those same fields transform into a warm palette of golds and russets that make Ohio autumn photography absolutely magical—perfect for cozy sweaters and that dreamy fall light that Columbus families love.
The Perfect Blend of Rustic and Refined
The wooden architectural elements throughout the park add such character to images. These aren't just pretty structures—they add depth and interest while maintaining that timeless, rustic elegance that photographs beautifully year after year.
Pathways That Lead to Magic
One of my most favorite features at Taylor Farm Park is the network of boardwalks and curved pathways. I love how they pull you into the image to heart of family and seniors alike and create that add incredible depth to your photos.Â
Light That Makes Everything Glow
If you've ever wondered why I obsess over "golden hour," spend a sunset session with me at Taylor Farm Park and you'll understand completely. The way the light filters through the trees and wooden structures here is nothing short of magical. You can easily see that here with Owen's senior photos, where this warm, diffused light wraps around him creating that dreamy, timeless quality that makes images feel like treasured heirlooms.
Bringing families and seniors to Taylor Farm Park, I've learned exactly how to work with this location's unique personality. I know where the light will be most flattering at sunset, which pathways offer the most interesting compositions, and how to use those gorgeous wildflower fields to create images that feel both artistic and authentically you.
What made the Linton family's session absolutely unforgettable was the Hunter's Moon rising at twilight—nature's perfect spotlight casting its glow against the deep twilight sky and golden fall foliage.
As I write this with fall weather settling in around New Albany, I can't help but get excited about the upcoming sessions at Taylor Farm Park. There's something about this time of year that makes every photograph feel extra special—maybe it's the way the changing seasons remind us to pause and appreciate these fleeting moments with our loved ones.
If you've been thinking about scheduling a family session, I'd love to show you why Taylor Park has become such a special place in my work. Whether we're chasing wildflowers in summer meadows or capturing your family against those stunning fall colors, I promise we'll create something beautiful together—images that don't just document this season of your life, but celebrate the unique joy and connection that makes your family yours.
