Schiller Park + German Village
Established in 1857, Schiller Park is Columbus' second oldest park. Nestled in German Village just south of downtown, this park covers over 23 acres and is home to a beautiful walking paths and gardens, a touch of history embedded into pathway quotes from famous authors, including Schiller, and currently suspended sculptures which are part of a temporary exhibit in the park by Polish painter and sculptor Jerzy Kedziora. Here you'll have access to a walking bridge and water, beautiful tree lines and flower gardens, and even a small taste of urban mixed into the whole vibe.
Just a few blocks away you'll get into some of the heart of German Village, one of the most atmospheric neighborhoods in the Midwest. Originally built by German settlers in the mid-1800s, the lovingly restored brick houses, shops, streets, and sidewalks are full of historic charm and modern swank. Once you get there with a short walk or drive from downtown, you’ll want to explore the neighborhood on foot to really take in all its delightful appeal.
